Well, it was one heck of a Thanksgiving. We had planned to stay at home, but then decided on a movie. At the last minute, I got sick with a bad stomach, so I did stay home while my wife met a friend at the movie theater. So far, so good.

Then the phone rang. It was my wife, Janet. She was obviously upset. She'd been in an accident on the way home from the theater. She was okay, but the car, which we had just bought three months ago, was probably totalled.

It's funny how a mind works. I was actually relieved. She was unhurt. That was the important thing. She was upset, blaming herself, while I was relieved. That's how I felt. Go figure!

When it comes down to it, a car is just a thing. A person, especially one you love, is an irreplaceable gift! Nothing else is as important as life and love. That's the way I see it. That's the way it is when it comes down to it.

With a couple of days of perspective, we're already shopping the web for a new car. Of course, the one that was wrecked may not be "totalled" by the insurance company, in which case we get it back. If it is a total wreck, we get to buy a new car again. The silver lining is always more attractive than the dark exterior. That's also the way I see it.
