The Daily Show: Arming the Sunnis or "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."

I feel a little better already…However, what small relief Magic Lute just gave me is gone as I realized that the US has gone completely mad. We are now arming the Sunnis insurgents (our enemy) to…get this…attack al-Qaeda…Huh? WTF? Oh…hear it comes…The media does it again…

Letter From The Heart

Letter from VT Mom:
In high school, while your children were doing what kids that age should be doing, mine labored over a suicide note, drafting and redrafting it to be sure his family knew how much he loved them. My sobbing 17-year-old tore the heart out of me as he choked out that he just couldn't bear to continue living any longer, that he didn't want to be gay and that he couldn't face a life without dignity.

You have the audacity to talk about protecting families and children from the homosexual menace, while you yourselves tear apart families and drive children to despair. I don't know why my son is gay, but I do know that God didn't put him, and millions like him, on this Earth to give you someone to abuse. God gave you brains so that you could think, and it's about time you started doing that.
This should be required reading in all the schools and libraries in the country. It deserves to be circulated and heeded.

If It Quacks Like A Duck...

Think Progress » Justice Dept. IG Investigating Possible Gonzales Obstruction Of Justice Incident:
The Senate Judiciary Committee revealed today that the Justice Department’s Inspector General Glenn Fine is investigating whether Attorney General Alberto Gonzales may have acted unethically or illegally by attempting to “coach” Monica Goodling’s testimony.

In May, Goodling testified before Congress that, prior to resigning from the DoJ, she had an “uncomfortable” conversation with Gonzales, in which he “laid out” his version of the attorney firings and asked if she “had any reaction to his iteration.” Goodling said she did not think it was “appropriate for us to talk about that at that point.”
...and it smells like a duck, it's a duck! Or in this case, obstruction of justice. I'll have more faith in this nation and its government when charges are brought and trials held. Until then, it's just more talk.

Class. Real Class.

Libby judge harassed after sentencing - Yahoo! News:
"'I received a number of angry, harassing, mean-spirited phone calls and letters,' U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton said. 'Some of those were wishing bad things on me and my family.'"

Dispicable!

Justice Dept. Reshapes Its Civil Rights Mission - New York Times: "“They are engaging in freewheeling social engineering,” said Ayesha Khan, counsel for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and “using the power of the federal government to put in place an ideological, not constitutional agenda.”

The department declined to make available for interviews Assistant Attorney General Wan J. Kim, who heads the civil rights division, or Eric Treene, who holds the newly created position of special counsel for religious discrimination."

Panels Issue Subpoenas to Former Bush Aides - washingtonpost.com:
The House and Senate Judiciary panels issued subpoenas today for former White House counsel Harriet Miers and others, escalating the legal showdown between Democrats in Congress and the Bush administration over the Justice Department's firing of nine U.S. attorneys last year.

The House Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena for testimony and documents from Miers, while the Senate Judiciary panel issued subpoenas demanding the same from Sara M. Taylor, former White House political director. Both panels also issued separate subpoenas for White House documents related to the dismissals
I hope they follow through on these and get a real investigation going. We need to see some results and soon!

Keith Olbermann - the entire government has failed us

Very good. Worth watching. It is a very outspoken claim but he backs up all his points. It makes a lot of sense.

Lieberman Backs Limited U.S. Attacks on Iran - New York Times

Lieberman Backs Limited U.S. Attacks on Iran - New York Times
"Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, an independent who strongly supports the war in Iraq, said today that unless Iran stops training Iraqis to carry out anti-coalition attacks, the United States should launch cross-border attacks into Iran."

The man who once said he wasn't Bush now wants more war with more countries in the Middle East. Why did you elect this man, Connecticut? Why?!
