Israel's secular middle class strikes back | Carlo Strenger


Not getting much press here, but the majority in Israel are expressing their discontent with the high costs of living and increasingly repressive legislation passed by the right-wing coalition in their government. It all started with a Facebook post by a young woman who was sick and tired of trying to pay her ever-climbing rent without comparable increases in pay. Now, it has grown to include complaints about loss of civil liberties and simple social services. Are Israelis the new canary in the mine for right-wing policies? I'm looking at you, Florida! And you, Arizona! And Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio...!
